Some text rotates when plotted in AutoCAD - SOLVED

When plotting a drawing from AutoCAD to PDF, physical plotter, or other format, some text objects (multi-line/mtext and single-line/text) rotate according to the orientation of the plot. Typically the rotation angle is 90 degrees from the original orientation of the text in AutoCAD.

To adjust existing text objects:
  • Select the affected text object(s).
  • Open the PROPERTIES palette.
  • Adjust the Match orientation to layout setting from 'Yes' to 'No.'
Properties match orientation to layout
Tip: Use Quick Select (QSELECT) to choose all text objects with 'Match orientation to layout' set to 'Yes'. As of AutoCAD 2017, this is only available on Mac versions.

To adjust text styles:
  • Identify the affected text style(s).
  • At the command line, enter STYLE to launch the Text Style dialog box.
  • Select the text style from the list.
  • Uncheck the Match text orientation to layout setting, then Apply.
Note: Adjusting the text style(s) will not change the property for existing objects in the drawing. Use the ANNOUPDATE command for these.

Alternately, if the objects in question are not annotative, try setting the system variable USERI3 to a value of 0. (Its default is 101.) This has been observed with objects created in Fabrication CADmep and Fabrication CAMduct.
