Apply a layout from an existing drawing to a new drawing in AutoCAD

To add a layout from an external drawing on template:
  1. Right-click a layout tab in the destination drawing.
  2. Select "From template...".
  3. Choose the file type (DWG, DWT, or DXF) of the source drawing.
  4. Select the source drawing, then Open.
  5. Choose a layout or layouts from the list, then OK.
Layout From Template 

To save an existing layout as a template and then add it to a new drawing:
  1. At the command line, enter the LAYOUT command.
  2. Select SA for "Save As".
  3. Enter the name of the layout to save as a template.
  4. Name the file and choose a location, then Save.
  5. Open the new drawing.
  6. At the comand line, enter the LAYOUT command.
  7. Select T for "Template".
  8. Select the saved layout template, then Open.
  9. Choose a layout or layouts from the list, then OK.
