Convert DWF files to DWG format in AutoCAD

AutoCAD, DWG TrueView, and Design Review do not have a conversion feature to change DWF files into DWG format. DWF/DWFx files are a "digital plot" file containing only low-intelligence entities. It is not intended for use as a drawing file exchange format and cannot be fully recovered or changed back to a standard drawing file.

There is a workflow that can potentially produce a usable DWG file from a DWF using the PDFIMPORT command in AutoCAD:
  1. Start a new drawing in AutoCAD.
  2. Use the DWFATTACH command and attach the DWF/DWFx file.
  3. Plot or export the drawing to PDF.
  4. Start a new drawing and use the PDFIMPORT command to import the PDF.
Note: The PDF import feature was introduced in AutoCAD 2017.

Third-party utilities do exist that can convert DWF to DWG (such as Any DWF to DWG Converter). Keep in mind that these are software not made or maintained by Autodesk.
