Command delay in AutoCAD 2020

Issue:

While working in AutoCAD 2020, a few seconds delay occurs after terminating a command.
This may occur consistently, or only after inserting a block.  

 

Causes:

• Updates have not been installed. 
• Corrupted drawing.
• The installation has become corrupted due to Operating System Update.

Solution:

Do the following in order, testing the performance after each step:

• Install all available AutoCAD updates and hotfixes.
• Open any drawing and change the value of the system variable BLOCKMRULIST to 0 (zero).
• Change the display setting from the Blocks palette to List instead of Symbol.
• Use the CLASSICINSERT command instead of the Blocks palette (i.e., INSERT command).
• Repair the template (.dwt file) and repair the drawing (.dwg file)
• Reset AutoCAD.
