To Copy Objects in an Xref or Block Directly into a Drawing

Instead of exploding or binding an xref or block to copy objects nested within them into a drawing, you can use the XRef Copy Civil 3D Objects command.
When you copy objects using the XRef Copy Civil 3D Objects command, their property set data is brought over with them. If the destination drawing does not have the same property set settings, then data may be lost in the copy.
  • When you copy feature lines into the drawing they are put on the same name site as the source file. If the site does not exist, it is created.
  • The feature line style name of the XREF object is used when copying objects. If the style is not in the destination file, then the grading feature setting is used.
  • Description Keys
are applied to points as they are brought into the drawing.
Note: The XRef Copy Civil 3D Objects command is different from NCOPY because it works on Autodesk Civil 3D COGO points and Autodesk Civil 3D feature lines.
  1. In the Toolspace, on the Toolbox tab, expand SHP Import/Export Utilities  Geometry and Breakline Tools. Double-click XRef Copy Civil 3D Objects.
  2. Select the objects contained in an Xref or block that you want to copy into the destination drawing.
