How to convert a body object to a 3D solid
Instructions on how to convert a body object, such as polyface mesh, to a 3D solid in AutoCAD. These objects are not able to be edited by core 3D commands.
- Create a layer to place the body object on and isolate that layer.
- Isolating the layer can either be done via the Layer Properties Palette or by using the LAYISO command (see link below).
- Type FACETERSMOOTHLEV and set the variable to 0
- Execute command CONVTOMESH and select the "body" object. When prompted, click Create mesh.
- EXPLODE the new object to 3DFACE objects
- Execute command REGION and select all 3DFACES. Don't use union on regions (there are circumstances where you can but there is no need for this in this process).
- Execute command SURFSCULPT (not CONVTOSOLID) and select all regions
