Dashed lines appear solid in AutoCAD

After drawing a line in AutoCAD that has a dashed line type, the line appears solid or continuous. 

Causes:

• The linetype scale is too large for the length of the line drawn.
• There is a problem with the display driver on the system.

Solution:

Select the line and then change the Linetype scale in the Properties palette. Check also the LTSCALE, MSLTSCALE, and PSLTSCALE variables by typing them on the command line to make sure they have correct values. 



Updating the graphics driver on the system can help AutoCAD display drawing elements correctly
